Send the Exercise Science Club to Human Performance Conference
What is the Human Performance Conference?
On March 30 2019, Rutgers University is hosting the 6th annual Human Performance Conference featuring subject matter expert speakers in the areas of health, including nutrition, supplements, and training in performance. The keynote speakers are professionals in all areas of Exercise Science, from physical therapists to strength coaches. Attending this conference offers variability in professions which is beneficial to us as undergraduate students deciding on our future careers. Why is Attending CHHP Important to Us?
This conference is a great experience for the members of the Exercise Science Club to gain knowledge, experience, and network with professionals in our career field. The most important benefit that we will gain from this conference is the opportunity to network with various professionals as well as professors from prospective graduate schools. Most of us in the Exercise Science program at Stockton plan to further our education through graduate school. Conferences like this one offer a tremendous opportunity to physically speak to and meet people from our top school choices. Networking is crucial in gaining entry into graduate school and future connections in the professional field.
The conference features several speakers, people who are successful in our possible future professions. These people will give us insights into our journeys toward our professional goals. In addition to the valuable knowledge we will gain from these professionals, each member of the Exercise Science Club will benefit in deciding their future aspirations after exposure to the various career paths of each individual.
More About the Stockton University Exercise Science Club
Our club started in the spring of 2018 and we are excited to have the opportunity to go to our first conference as a club this semester! The goal of the club is to give knowledge and insights to students in the Exercise Science program that will help them along their academic journey, as well as try to help with networking for graduate school. Conferences like CHHP, are one of the main ways to network, which is why we are really excited for the opportunity to attend.
Last spring, the Club hosted speakers to help expose members to career options, as well as provide networking for internships. There was a wide variety of professionals from a variety of professions, including Apple to the Strength and Conditioning coach for Villanova University. This was a small scale event that we hope to have more of in the future as well as bringing in more speakers on a larger scale.
This fall, we had our first (Halloween) Dodgeball Tournament, and successfully raised money and awareness for the club.
