About Stockton Women’s Softball
Stockton Women’s Softball supports the University mission by providing significant components of the whole-person Stockton education. Stockton student-athletes perform both in the classroom and on the field. The student-athlete graduation rate is higher than that of non-athletes, with 75% having a GPA of at least 3.0 Softball players represent the very best that Stockton has to offer.
- The Stockton softball team once again played a daunting schedule in 2019 and came away with 22 wins, the fourth consecutive season with 22 or more victories under the helm of Mavreen Hering. Stockton set a school record with 20 home runs during the season and qualified for the NJAC Tournament for the fourth straight year.
- Junior Alexandra Cosenzo was an NJAC First Team selection after batting .310 with 39 hits, seven doubles, three homers and 28 RBI. During the year, Cosenzo broke the career home run record of 16 (Joey Afflitto, 2009-12) and RBI mark of 110 (Kelly Dodd, 2007-10).
- Casey Schieda earned an NJAC Second Team nod after leading the team in batting (.363), on-base percentage (.484, 5th in NJAC), and runs (34, 9th in NJAC) and tying for the team lead with 45 hits, 10 doubles, four homers (T-7th in NJAC) and 28 RBI. Schieda also tied the school record with 25 walks, which led the NJAC.
- Freshman shortstop Lilly James and sophomore outfielder Liani Ortiz also were NJAC Second Team selections. Ortiz batted .365 in 26 games played while James started every game and hit .308 in her rookie year.
