About Stockton Women’s Basketball
The Women’s Basketball program supports the University mission by providing significant components of the whole-person Stockton education. Stockton student-athletes perform both in the classroom and on the court. The student-athlete graduation rate is higher than that of non-athletes, with 75% having a GPA of at least 3.0. Women’s Basketball players represent the dedication and talent that makes Stockton Athletics legendary.
- The Stockton women's basketball team started a new era under first-year head coach Devin Jefferson in 2018-19. Jefferson inherited a team with just two returnees who had ever seen significant playing time, and the Ospreys gradually improved as the season progressed. Their efforts paid dividends with four wins in the last seven games, including victories over NJAC Tournament winner Rutgers-Newark plus playoff qualifiers Rowan and Rutgers-Camden.
- Senior April Peterson blossomed in her final year and garnered an NJAC Second Team nod for her play. Peterson scored 12.0 points per game, tying for the team lead, and topped the squad by pulling down 9.0 rebounds per contest. She finished second in the NJAC in rebounds and defensive rebounds plus third in field goal percentage.
- Freshman Emily Donzanti tied Peterson for the team lead in scoring (12.0 ppg) while setting a new school record for assists in a season with 131 (5.2 apg), which led the conference. The rookie also pilfered 1.9 steals per game while ranking eighth in the NJAC in assist/turnover ratio (1.1). Donzanti was named NJAC Rookie of the Week twice this year.
